IntelliAlias is a simple solution to a simple, yet annoying problem with aliases on the mac. When you create an alias to an application, you can't set the size preferences of the alias. This means that to have various size setups for a certain program, you need several copies of the program. This is obviously not ideal. IntelliAlias solves this problem. The IntelliAlias program is only 7k in size, so it is around the same size on your hard disk as any other alias.
Instructions:
Once setup, IntelliAlias will act in the same way as any other alias, so it is important to setup correctly. Only the setting up process differs slightly.
Remember, pressing Command while opening alias shows changes dialog.
1: Duplicate IntelliAlias.
2: Drag the application to alias onto the new icon.
3: In the dialog, specify the sizes. (and optionally change the target application)
4: Press the Ok button.
5: Double-Click the alias to check it works.
You can drag files onto IntelliAlias, and they will be opened in the target application, as if you had dragged them onto the application itself.
WARNING:
You cannot use IntelliAlias on non-writeable (read-only) volumes. This means if either the program or IntelliAlias is on a locked floppy or CDRom, etc, it can't change the SIZE settings for the application, and won't function as expected.
